Happy New Year to all!

Kate Downie returned from Beijing in time for New Year.

2011

Coming in OCTOBER:

1st & 2nd October - WASPS Open Studios weekend, many of the studio artists at Patriothall will be taking part in this event.

8th until 29th October - Shelagh Atkinson is exhibiting in PUSHING PRINT at The Pie Factory Gallery, Margate. see THIS LINK for more details.  Private View - Friday 7th October, 6-9pm.

24th October 2011 - 20th February 2012 - Shelagh Atkinson taking part in ENCOUNTERS WITH PLACE exhibition at Threshold Artspace, Perth Theatre, Perth.  See THIS LINK for full inforamation.

5th October - 2nd November - Kate Downie will be exhibiting at The Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh.

Mid October - End December - Kate Downie will be going to China to take part in an international residency programme with the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing.  Kate will also be spending some time studying with contemporary Chinese Ink painters.

While Kate is away she is offering her studio as a sub-let from October 15th until December 31st.
The studio has a large window and (intermittent) wireless Internet access.

Coming up in NOVEMBER:

5th November - Fiona Hutchison will be exhibiting at An Tobar, Tobermory on the Isle of Mull.  Full details will shortly be available. Link to An Tobar website - keep an eye open for an update.

12th November until early January 2012 - THAT WAS THEN - THIS IS NOW  exhibition by STAR - Scottish Tapestry Artists' Group - at the City Art Centre.

19th November until 12th February 2012 - REFLECTIONS - an exhibition celebrating some of the EVAC awards in the city - some of the artists at Patriothall studios taking part.  The City Art Centre link for more information.

 

 

APRIL:

Kate Downie is exhibiting - Dialogue with the Land - open from April 15th to June 2nd at the newly refurbished Burgh Halls Gallery in Linlithgow. It  is a solo exhibition of works on paper dated made between 2009 to 2011. The Burgh Halls has just been beautifully renovated into a ‘culture centre’ for West Lothian Council by Malcolm Fraser Architects. The Burgh Halls is directly  in front ofLinlithgow Palace, it  has a great cafe and garden,excellent access and is only 5 minutes walk from the train station ! Inside the Herbarium: An Exhibition in Clay and Cloth at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh 
Ceramic artist Lorna Fraser and embroiderer Lucy Head present a new body of work inspired by their time working in the herbarium. Having access to the vast collection of specimens has provided a rich vein for exploration and reference.

August 2010
Keiko Mukaide
I will have a site specific installation during the Pittenweem Art Festival 7th -15th August.

It has been inspired by the history of the town, it includes series of portraits of people in Pittenweem.

It's located in the end of harbour, I look forward to see you at the cottage at beautiful Scottish summer!

Also I will run a half day of Trial Lost vegetable cast class on Wed 11th Au at the courtyard of the venue.
The cost £58.
Please bring your own veg. or fruit to cast in plaster.
I will fire it with glass at my studio.
Later in August you will collect an unique glass vegetable.

1st May 2010

May edition of a-n magazine includes studio artist Victoria Clare Bernie writing about her residency with the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) at the Scottish Marine Institute in Oban.  Collaborator Dr. John Howe writes about his experience of working with an artist in residence at the institute.
